About Me

Thanks for stopping in.  I’m Jessica a runner and mother from Janesville, Wisconsin.  My story isn’t like that of a lot of other athletes.  I didn’t run track or cross country in high school, in fact I didn’t play any high school sports.  I did love my gym class when we weren’t swimming.  I knew I was always good at running but never had that push to pursue it any further than gym class.  In middle school I played sports (soccer and basketball) but once I got to high school, insecurities took over. jess

Shortly after college I discovered running.  I struggled a bit in the beginning and ran into injuries because I was a bit overenthusiastic.  I remember the moment that I decided I wanted to “go big or go home.”  I wanted to improve my running, and in order to do that I had to be dedicated.  From that point on, I made sure to put forth more into my running. I became more focused and eventually I improved.

I started running in late 2011. By 2012 I ran my first half marathon, 50k and full marathon.  Running has become a HUGE part of who I am.  Dare I say, running defines me.

In those years I met some really amazing, epic people who inspired and pushed me to test my limits.  I fell in love with the trails and ultra marathons.

I’ve been vegan since the end of 2011.  It has been the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.  Not only did I learn to cook in the process but I’ve also tried foods that I would have never even looked at before.
